Her prognosis is unknown, dogs with her condition die of sudden heart attack, typically by middle age. Bonnie is approximately 4 years old, and is doing amazing since starting the medications. She will not be a candidate for spay due to her heart condition so she will need a family who is vigilant to prevent pregnancy which would kill her. She also has cloudy corneas which do not impact her vision other than in the dark.

Description:

Bonnie is an amazing dog who is just so full of love all the time. She approaches every human and animal with the same friendly attitude and just loves children! Bonnie’s history is unknown but she arrived at a rural southern shelter with severe demodex mange and skin infections and knew she had some kind of heart condition as well. Our rescue brought her to a veterinarian who consulted with two cardiologists who read her echocardiogram and X-rays and determined she has Moderate to Severe Aortic Stenosis, and 3 out of 4 valves are leaking resulting in a grade VI heart murmur. Bonnie doesn’t know she has any heart problem. She acts like any other dog, happy and active, playful and loving. She has some restrictions: can’t take her for a jog or a long walk, but she should be allowed to play and do what makes her happy. Bonnie could have 1 month or 1 year or 5 years, there is no way to predict. She will die suddenly of a heart attack, but will not suffer before that as long as she takes her medications. Bonnie is an unusual dog, she is a very special girl and deserves to live out her life with a loving family. Bonnie’s adoption fee is adopter’s choice of donation. She will go home with three months of her medications which cost approximately $135 per month. Please consider this girl, you won’t regret any time you could have with her!
